My name is Hans Carpenter, aka Hans-Peter Carpenter - I am British and lived in Britain, Germany, France and Holland. I am fluent in the first three languages, and understand and speak Dutch pretty well - I still work for a Dutch company.
I will try to keep this blog pretty technical as I am an ex call center hero (anybody taking 50+ calls a day is a hero!), ex consultant and tech writer, now.
I know FreeBSD 4.2+, Solaris 9+, GNU/linux 2.0.10+, Mac OS 8.6-9.2.2 X Beta to X 10.5.1 and Windows NT 4.0 to Vista pretty well. I use Solaris 10 x86, Mac OS X ppc 10.4.10, intel 10.5.1 and ubuntu Hardy @home, I also have a Windows XP VM.
